The 2016 season came to an end with two races at Mallory Park hosted by E.M.R.A. in perfect dry and sunny conditions; and being the last 2016 rounds of the E.M.R.A., Derby Phoenix and the F.S.R.A. F350 / Post Classic / Pre-Injection championships this was a well-subscribed event. A total of sixteen outfits were entered with seven teams being part of our championship. The good weather had brought out decent crowds and was well supported.
Rob Fisher / Rick Long (600 Thundercat) increased their championship lead with a win. Second were Bruce / Ashley Moore (Ireson R6 Yamaha), myself, with Mark Edwards (Yamaha FJ1200) third. Newcomers Mark Burns / Steven Winfrow, getting quicker on their long wheelbase 1100 Suzuki were fourth, even with a flat chair tyre on the last lap. The other novice team of Gerald / Daniel Hodgson (Shelbourne Honda 600) were fifth. The all lady combination of Marianne Walford / Kerry Hughes (600 Yamaha Thundercat) came in sixth. Bill / Nick Roberts (Jacobs 600 Kawasaki) retired on lap seven after getting up to third.
The first three were the same order, with Rob and Bruce doing sub minute laps. The ladies found extra pace to claim fourth place in both this race and the Championship. Burns / Winfrow were fifth, but despite the Hodgson father and son pairing going quicker in race two, they were unfortunately forced to retire at Edwina’s on lap seven.
