Yokohama/ACU British F2 sidecar Championship 2009 YOKOHAMA/ACU BRTISH FII SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP MALLORY PARK - 18-19 JULY The first round after the T.T. often sees a depleted entry but this year's competitive championship saw 26 outfits vying for a place on the 24 place grid. Free practice on Saturday morning saw Simon Neary and Stu Bond (Neary Racing Baker Suzuki) fastest at 56.327s, narrowly ahead of John Holden and Andy Winkle (D&A Walmsley LCR Suzuki) on 56.529s, with Roy Hanks and Dave Wells (Dorwingear Ltd Molyneux Suzuki) and Ian and Carl Bell (Ian Bell M/cs LCR Yamaha) third and fourth over a second back. At this stage, Dave Wallis and Steve Wareham (Team Petpals LCR Honda) and Matt and Jo Williams (Blue Dragon Promotions MR Equipe Suzuki) were in the 'non-qualifiers' positions but that was to change in late afternoon qualifying. Phil Dongworth Source :Manx Radio.com Experienced sidecar competitor Phil Dongworth has died following a crash in last night's (Tuesday) Southern 100 qualifying session. The 43 year old from Stamford Bridge in Worcester had been airlifted to Noble's Hospital with serious injuries after an incident at Ballanorris. Organisers of the Southern 100 announced the news and are expressing their deepest sympathy to Mr Dongworth's wife, family and friends. A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is also under way.
