Post Classic sidecar racing championship Round 7 Festival of Sidecars Sunday 5th October 2008
Post Classic sidecar racing championship Round 7 Festival of Sidecars Sunday 5th October 2008

Saturday cold wet and windy Sundays predicted wet the paddocks half full, shall we go home. But we didn’t and it did rain all Saturday night and Sunday morning the officials preparing the track delayed the start and slowly the rain intentness decreased. Anyway with the Bar packed Saturday night full of the sidecar fraternity, this was the place to be. Midday Sunday things were improving still need wet tyres but we are going to race, and eight lappers.
In the Post Classic class there were only four entries Tony Wheatley and Vince Biggs TZ750 Yamaha’s. Pat Gallagher’s GS Susuki and Dave Tibbles Z1 Kawsaki. Talking to others who there but not racing with the present climate money and the cost of racing is now taking effect.

Race one
All with Wets on the race was won by Vince and Phil Biggs on the TZ, Pat and Sean on the GS second. Tibs and Wayne on their Z1 third, with the Wheatley Brothers on their TZ fourth. Alan Wright Tony’s usual passenger missing do to an injury he picked up at Angelsey two weeks earlier.
Race Two
Same results except the weathers now improved to a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon.

The organisers EMRA did a brilliant job in getting the track ready and hold a full programme of races.
The entries were poor due to the fact there were five other sidecar meetings on the same day. Hopefully clubs and organisers can get together before the start of next season and prevent key dates clashing.

What was good news was that several racers and ex racers were asking about the Post Classic scene some having and others wanting to buy there own outfits. This with the four other teams at presently constructing and completing their machines the grid is looking better and bigger all the time.

Post Classic sidecar racing championship Round Six Angelsey 20/21 September

The suns out the perfect conditions and the full 2.1 mile circuit a great weekend is in store. This round held in conjunction of the European sidecar challenge the paddock was full of sidecars what a great sight and atmosphere.

Friday was an optional practice day with most taking advantage of this offer. Kawasaki Z900 Tib’s even letting his passenger Wayne Kemp experiences the challenge of driving. All could be said of this experiment Wayne made a better driver than Tibs made of having ago at being on the side. Tib’s was still in the toilets when the next practise was announced, Janet Tyrell of the F350 smelly brigade jumped on to assist Wayne.
Saturday was spent with a practice then a timed practice for grid positions in the morning with a single race in the afternoon. Vince and Phil Biggs on the immaculate Ford-Dunn TZ were going to be the one to beat.

Race one Saturday
As predicted Vince won the post classic race taking fourth overall in the mixed classes’ race with F1 and F2’s. Pat Gallagher with Sean Rooney was second on a 1085 Bellas GS Susuki. It was good to see out again Stu Mellor, with Mick Fairhurst back out on his TZ750 Yamaha though suffering with clutch problems they managed a third. The Z1 Kawasaki of Tibs and Wayne Kemp was fourth, Tony Wheatley with Alan Wright on their TZ750 fifth. Chris Foster and Steve Walcott credited with a sixth after struggling to get his Kawasaki with severe engine problems over the line. In fact so terminal it ended their weekend.

Race one Sunday
After an optional practice on the Sunday morning the race was a copy of yesterdays, a comment by Stu Mellor who’s TZ was still not hundred percent and unusually circulating middle field ( a place he is not use to being) “Its frightening at the back there’s people trying to get by you at all none realistic opportunities’, its frightening. However his race results were better than his sea fishing attempts Saturday night.

Race Two Sunday
With all the TZ two strokes back in the van it left Pat’s GS and Tibs Z1 out contesting the PC championship and that’s how they finished.

2008 FSRA F350 sidecar Championship Anglesley
Close F350 Racing at Anglesey

Steve Brooks and Jan Tyrell were on top form at the Ty Croes round of the FSRA F350 Championship, but there was hot competition for second to fifth places in all races. After changing a cylinder in the morning, Allen Steele and stand in passenger Annette Daykin started from the back of the grid for Saturday's race. A storming start from the nearly seventy year old put him in third place behind Brooks and Tyrell and the Chandler brothers into the first corner.
Dave Saunders and Mick Cutts were close behind with the Alan Longshaw/ John Longbottom just ahead of Ian Arnold and Sandy Dransfield.
No one could live with the pace of Brooks and Tyrell, with the other outfits circulating in close formation. A fuel starvation problem at full throttle meant that the Chandlers were passed by Steele/Daykin on Lap 3 and Saunders/Cutts on the next lap.
The order stayed the same with Brooks/Tyrell taking an undisputed win from Steele/Daykin followed closely by Saunders & Cutts and John and Doug Chandler. Longshaw and Longbottom were not far adrift but Arnold/Dransfield had a lonely ride to sixth place. The Chandler's problem proved to be caused by a blocked fuel filter and this was rectified before Sunday's racing.

In Sunday's race one, Steve Brooks and Jan Tyrell repeated their disappearing act, with the Chandlers, trying to match the hot pace.
The rapidly improving pairing of Dave Saunders and Mick Cutts kept the Chandlers in sight but Allen Steele and Annette Daykin were hampered by a number of F1 and F2 outfits who, arriving on Sunday due to other race commitments, started at the back of the grid.
It took a full lap before Steele and Daykin had clear track in front of them. They passed the Longshaw and Arnold outfits but ran out of laps whilst closing on the second and third outfits.
Brooks took an easy win with the Chandlers in second followed by Saunders and Cutts. Steele and Daykin were fourth followed by Longshaw/ Longbottom and Arnold/Dransfield.

RACE 9 – BRANDS HATCH – SUNDAY 14 SEPTEMBER 2008

In the midst of all the talk about poor summer weather, the F2 Championship continued to enjoy good fortune with dry, sunny and even warm conditions. The series had reached a crucial stage but with two races at the last meeting at Pembrey in October, nothing could be decided today.
