  • What is the Formula Sidecar Racing Association?

  • What do they do?

The Role of the Commitee

The Formula Sidecar Racing Association is a voluntary organisation and was formed at the TT races in 1985, and is an organisation especially formed to represent the F1, F2, F350 and post classic Sidecar Road Racing class competitors. It is unique in being the only body that represents a road race class to the sports governing bodies from club level to World Championship level, liaising with motorcycle road race clubs, often on behalf of the riders, and over this time has  been instrumental in forming the rules and technical regulations for the latest sidecar classes.

The FSRA is a registered Non Territorial Club to the ACU, which allows us to give the members the facility of being able to sign their racing licence application form, and if required able to hold our own race meetings, and is recognised as one of the key players, until recently of the unique Festival of Sidecar event, held at Mallory Park, Leicestershire each year.

It was the F.S.R.A. who set the precedent for European countries to follow the idea of forming their own Association's, which in 1998 has seen the formation of the European Sidecar Racing Federation, consisting of representatives from each Association uniting all participating countries under one body, to represent, promote and formulate one set of rules of sidecar racing.

The F.S.R.A. is a democratic Association in which its members are voted on to a Committee each year, who actively represent sidecar racing in a professional manner, all work carried out by the Chairman and Committee is on a voluntary basis.

The FSRA associates the reader on any new technical regulation, sidecar racing results, gossip from the paddock and forthcoming events. To compliment the site we issue newsletters to members, in addition we are the only club who’s annual dinner/dance and trophy presentations is soley for sidecar racers and guests.

1985  saw the first running of a national championship for F2 machines and it has continued to grow in stature –

In 2003 the FSRA arranged the popular ACU /FSRA Super F2 Sidecar Championship which brought together the top F2 competitors and the up and coming club teams, who were recognised for their efforts in the F2 Cup section, the format for this series worked well and was supported by a number of new teams.  It must be one of the most successful championships ever in British motor-cycle sport!

The FSRA also runs the F350 and Post-Classic championships and in the past has organised the national F1 series.

In short, it is an organisation covering all aspects of sidecar racing and MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO EVERYONE, not just those competing in FSRA-run races.

It is therefore important that sidecar competitors from each of the classes support this organisation, in addition the FSRA welcome any road racing sidecar enthusiast to come and join,
